Uncle Pei’s visit
My Uncle Pei dropped by our house briefly to have dinner with us this week. He was attending a conference on nano technology at the Santa Clara Convention Center and paid us a visit to see the kids. You see, he’s never seen them till now because he and my Aunt Rosa lives in Maryland so we’ve relied mostly on photos to keep in touch.
We had a nice chat with him over dinner and the funny thing is that whenever I see a relative of mine… I’m always reminded of my own parent because of certain gestures, resemblance, or what not. Strangely enough… as my relatives age, they start looking more and more alike in certain way. I suppose the same can be said of me and my sisters as well. Growing up, people just assumed my sisters and I were just friends hanging out with each other, but 20 years later, even strangers are finding many familiaral traits or even behaviors between the three of us.
My Uncle Pei has lots of good advice to dish out and interesting oppinions to share. He gave us his though on private school, hybrid cars, and many many more topics he had discussed among his collegues at the convention as well. All the while, his company felt kind of like a nice visit from my mom even despite strong differences in personality. And the most important thing of all I had completely forgotten when he was here? To take a picture of him with our family or at least with the kids. Oh well.
