Rainy Days

I love rainy days… when you can hear the sound of raindrops atop your roof and when the wind gusts outside. This is especially true when I’m snugly warm indoors.  It brings back nostalgic memories of growning up in my parent’s home where sounds are much more vivid due to the construction of yesteryear. Nowadays, with double-insulated walls and double-paned windows, I seem to rely more on my sense of sight and the weather channel to keep tabs on what’s going on outside these walls. Alex has learned to ignore my comments about how disappointing it is that I cannot even hear the sound of rain from inside. Imagine how giddy I get when the wind is so strong that it practically throws the rain against our windows or when a heavy downpour or hail on top of our roof can be heard from inside the home — I usually get the best sleep on those nights. I have a nature sounds clock radio beside my bed that emulates a rainy day, but there’s something beautiful about the sounds mother nature creates that a mechanical box just cannot replace. I’ll admit it’s no fun at all for those who need to weather these storms as part of their daily routine, but from where I stand (sit or lie) it’s quite a sight to take in even if the sound-effects are somewhat subdued.

I am just the opposite. I don’t like rainy days but since we need the rain, I prefer it rains all night and have a clear sky the next morning! ;)

Okay, for you, I won’t complain if it rains again and again and again.

For me, I feel really happy when I am in a movie theater.
