Haunted Mansion Spiel

“When hinges creak in doorless chambers and strange and frightening
sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelights flicker where
the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present,
practicing their terror with ghoulish delight…” ~Ghost Host

This is the spiel guests hear in the foyer of the mansion as they await their fateful doom. Can you believe I can still recite this by heart? It’s been almost 20 years since I’ve had the pleasure of working as mansion hostess at Disneyland and I can still remember the most minute details about that experience. I’ll devulge more secrets and stories taken from my experiences there over time but for now I leave you this…

“Hurry back, hurry back. Be sure to bring your death certificate if
you decide to join us. Make final arrangements now. We’ve been

    Why the username? For those of you who have asked, maybe this passage will provide the clue. Any guesses where that came from?

    “There are several prominent ghosts who have retired here from creepy old crypts all over the world. Actually, we have 999 happy haunts here, but there’s always room for one more. Any volunteers? If you insist on lagging behind, you may not need to volunteer…”

    Well, this was the next best alternative to DisneyGirl, DisneyGal, DisneyFan, GhostHostess… which were all taken of course. I have a special attachment to the Haunted Mansion or couldn’t you tell. ;-)

    I was scared going to to the Haunted Mansion this year. All I remembered when I was a little kid was that it was scary! After going through it - I thought I was so silly being scared. :) Grace - you have to give us some details of behind the scene stuff. My sister swears that one year they had real people in there scaring you.
