Around The World Celebration

2007 marked VTG’s first $2B run-rate quarter! So our company held an around the world celebration with our local venue at City Beach. The party started at 1pm with a BBQ buffet, followed by brief video monologues from our CEO and department leads, and there were plenty of activities to explore around the complex. I had my meal with all the ladies from our test team, but when they headed out early to the mall… I stayed behind and played a couple games of air hockey with my teammates before ending my day on the basketball courts. I haven’t played basketball in 12 years, and I don’t usually on asphalt either, but there’s just something about the pristine floors of an indoor basketball court that brings back nostalgic memories for me. There was an intense half-court scrimmage going on at one end but plenty of people just shooting baskets on the other, so I joined in on the fun and made lots of baskets, air balls, and bricks of my own. There was a huge section for rock climbing, pool, badminton, volleyball, bocce, floor chess, but every inch of the complex was pretty much occupied except on the courts. They served beer and wine at the bar but not too many people drank probably cuz everyone still had to drive home afterwards. Anyways, no one left empty-handed because we all got a set of portable ipod speakers to bring home (in a choice of black/gray/white) and the stand even had an engraved logo on the front commemorating the event. I don’t think the speakers were worth much but it was still a nice gesture by the company.
