Winter Spectacular and Feast
Today was the day of Wesley’s holiday performance and potluck so we got our cameras ready and our spirits in gear (we picked up Nicholas early too so he would not miss out). The Two’s/Transition department (made up of 100 or so kids) put on a winter spectacular in the multipurpose room of our daycare center and sang a medley of songs including Frosty, Must Be Santa, Rudolph, We wish you a merry christmas, Jingle Bells, Feliz Navidad, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. It was very cute seeing each classroom of kids (hands on rope) come in single file to a room full of camera/minicam-toting shutter-happy parents. A few of the kids (after spotting a parent in the crowd) never makes it back “on-stage”. I guess Wesley didn’t see us when he came in so he spent the rest of the performance searching us out in the crowd with his eyes. I think he even forgot to sing, but at least he was happily shaking his maraca (once they hit the Jingle Bells midway point when all the bells and sound-makers were passed out). We actually got a preview of this event last year when Wesley just started in the Two’s program, but it’s so adorable watching kids perform… some of these kids are such naturals on stage.
Afterward, the kids and families were treated to a potluck back in the classroom. We brought along go-gurts, but there were lots of yummy entrees there that was enjoyed by all. This was perhaps the first time we met many of the parents because on previous occasions (when both kids’ potlucks/celebrations collided), we always defaulted to attending Nicholas’ instead. So it was fun this time getting to chat with some of Wesley’s friends’ parents.
