The Leprechauns were here…

or at least this is what Wesley’s teachers wanted them to think.

Both of Wesley’s teachers arrived early to school to decorate the classroom for a St. Patrick’s day celebration.  There were different shaped green mylar balloons tied to the backs of all the chairs and the tables were all covered with green butcher’s block paper.  The looks on the kids faces were so funny to see.  I think they were all a little in awe over the Leprechaun’s visit.  Alex told me later that the Leprechauns even left some candy in each child’s cubby. I wish I had my camera on hand for pictures.  I think this is the first time Wesley’s been exposed to a leprechaun visit.  Last time, it was Nicholas’ class at CFC that was completely “ransacked” by mischievious little leprechauns who left green footprints all over the tabletops, bookshelfs, and floor.  I love the innocence and naivety of children at this age.  Nicholas is already getting too inquisitive and analytical about some of these experiences.

That’s funny. I wish I had thought up that line as well. Nicholas was extremely disappointed that the Leprechauns did not come to our house. Our excuse was that our house was already too messy for the mischievious leprechauns to bother with.

Matthew wanted the Leprechauns to come to our house, but I told him that we need to be Irish. He’s still sad about it. I explained to him that we celebrate Chinese New Year and not everyone gets a red envelope, so of course we don’t get a pot of gold at our house. I guess we have to try and capture these moments as much as possible since they won’t be outsmarted any longer.
