The Circus
Nicholas’ teacher asked all the students to write a composition beginning with….
One fine day, I went to the circus. I saw
elephants on stools, acrobats swinging from bar to bar, and horses running in circles. I ate popcorn and my brother ate hot dogs. My mother and my father both ate popcorn. We all sat there watching the acrobots, elephants, and the horses. There were clowns. at the end. and 3 children. The end.
He also drew a quick sketch (at the bottom of the 2nd page) of the stadium from side view along with an elephant in a circus ring with 2 stick figures walking on what looked like loosely hung tightropes off of 2 trapeze bars.
Teachers Marks: excellent story!
… and to think that he began the school year with barely the skills of reading single vowel words.
