Swimmin Swimmin Swimmin….

… a la Dory from ‘Finding Nemo’.

We had a wonderful time on Saturday at the Jarvinen’s for a BBQ pool party. It certainly doesn’t feel like it’s more than 100 degrees when you are submerged in a swimming pool. Our kids had a great time in the water, and later on they both managed to swim independently with the help of swim noodles strapped under the arms. Wesley even donned Katelyn’s arm floaties for a while (allowing him to pretty much swim independently) and was so giddy about the experience that he started practicing blowing bubbles with his face in the water several times (each try encouraged excitedly by Auntie Sandra). Kyle of course was very impressive with his star swim techniques and Emily in her little tink tankini bravely took flying leaps into the water towards her mom and dad. Katelyn was a natural in the waters and will surprise us all with her aquatic achievements I’m sure in the future. Allison was adorable in her cute swim hat and it was fun seeing her excitement in the waters too, and the Lam’s niece/nephew were also aclimated well in the waters. Andre is such a big boy now and is such a great kid too. Now if the swimming wasn’t enough, we were later on treated to a sumptuous meal of BBQ’d Chicken Legs/Thighs, Veggies/Corn, “Suzanne’s special salad”, marinated steaks and a host of other sides. The kids had their fill of ice cream and popsicles (especially our fudgsicle hungry boys), and we had 2 delicious pies to sample later on while watching a slideshow from Kyle’s Star Wars birthday party (showcasing Uncle Rex’s photographic prowess). Secretly, our biggest fear is that Uncle Rex will one day start charging for his proofs. ;-) Anyways, it was a great time had by all. I think the men plotted to have their share of after hours pleasure on the PC — the rated PG-13 kind of course, but fate ultimately intervened (with us, the power outage; and rex, the flat tire apparently).

  1. We didn’t get home until almost midnight. Luckily it was one of the rear & not one of front tires that blew up. All’s well after a visit from a AAA tow truck. whew…
