Swim Class (Week 1)

So I finally enrolled both kids in swim classes at an Athletic Club a distance away from our home. This place was highly recommended by my friend Sandra, and we are equally impressed by the facilities and instruction. I actually bumped into our friend Elizabeth and her two sons at our first day of class yesterday, and she actually had to suit up because her younger boy is too young to attend class alone with the instructor. Anyways, both Nicholas and Wesley did really well for their first class. Wesley’s instructor is Miss Kristy, and Nicholas’ instructor is Mr. Adam. I can see that they are a bit more intensive with their older kids even though both our boys are entering the program at the beginner’s (Seahorse) level. Poor Nicholas… I think the instructor was a bit gungho about getting the student a jump ahead so Nicholas was definitely out of his comfort zone yesterday, but I was really proud that he had no reservations about dunking his head underwater (thanks to our summer dips in the pool at Auntie Sandra’s and the Y class over the summer). There’s 12 more weeks of class left. Hopefully they will learn to love the water and learn how to stay safe in those environments as well.
