New Shoes

I got Nicholas a new pair of shoes for school this week since the velcro on his current shoe is half gone from all the wear and tear from PE and soccer in extended care. He’s been begging me to buy him laced shoes, but I refuse to because Alex and I are the ones who have to put them on each morning (so they can have clean hands to eat breakfast with in the car) as we are rushing to get out of the house. Pathetic excuse I know, but that’s how this household is run these days. Anyway, Nicholas liked his new shoes so I didn’t hear of any more complaints after that. When Wesley saw Nicholas wearing his new shoes, he immediately asked us why he doesn’t get to wear his new shoes too? So Alex ran inside to get his (which I’ve had since the beginning of the school year in anticipation of him outgrowing his current pair). Actually, I make him wear these indoors to play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) because he stomps so hard on the floors, but today he is finally using it for school. I thought the novelty of these shoes had already worn off since he’s been wearing them inside the house, but when we dropped him off at school today, he just kept staring at his “shiny” white shoes the whole time he was led to class. It was definitely a funny sight, and when the other dropoff teachers saw why he was walking this way, they laughed so hard too.
