New Discoveries

Latest Breakfast Craze: Plain Boiled Eggs. A discovery made on our Carnival Cruise.

Favorite Snacks: String Cheese, fresh Vine-riped tomatoes, Kettlecorn, and Pringle’s newest line of baked cracker sticks (similar to Pocky sticks sold in Asian markets).

Favorite Dessert (aside from ice cream): Poached Pear. I skin the pears, cut out the seeds, drizzle on honey, and cover most of the pear halves with water and microwave in the oven for about 20 minutes until the pear practically melts in your mouth. Wesley loves drinking the warm honey/pear flavored juice, and this combination is great for curing coughs as well.

Favorite Pasttime: Watching and Playing Pokemon, putting together Lego sets, Reading, and dribbling little balls around the house especially the mini-NBA ball they got from Chi many years ago.

Nicholas picks his own lunch selections now from the online menu and I just have to look through it once to make sure he’s not picking all junk foods. He’s also been doing well both at school and with his homework load. Still very sloppy about stapling his homework but at least the teacher knows that it’s him who’s prepping his work and not me. He also enjoys running around with his friends and playing soccer at extended care. We still haven’t set up any play dates with his friends from school despite his constant nagging. Oh well.

New Backpack for Nicholas. I finally replaced his old backpack with a cool lightning wheels version. His old backpack had 2 big holes on the bottom (outer edges), holes in both mesh pockets so he couldn’t put his water bottles there, and it never stood upright because the bottom support broke in half on its 2nd day of use. I’ve been wanting to replace his backpack for some time now, but Alex insisted the backpack is still usable. The funny thing is that Nicholas never even minded one bit.

Wesley has had a great few months both at home and at school. He no longer makes a fuss at morning dropoffs, and he looks forward to getting new reading materials from school every day. Wesley is drawing/painting more now and has impressed me on more than a few occasions with his artwork.

And this may come as a bit of a surprise, but Alex canceled Nicholas’ piano lessons a few months back due to our inability to handle the lessons and practice schedule during the weekday. We are still in search of a different teacher/school that’ll offer weekend classes for him, but his skills obviously has taken a huge hit during this hiatus. We’re going to get him back on track though because Nicholas actually enjoys playing the piano. My hope is by the beginning of summer.
