Halloween
For this Halloween, Nicholas wanted to be Spider-man and Wesley, Batman. When Wesley had his costume on, he would only answer to Batman and would say to us, “I not Wesley, I Batman”. So of course that night, I had to say “Batman… go brush your teeth” since they still had their costumes on while getting ready to shower.
We were stuck in traffic for a long time on the way home from work today and didn’t get back ’til nightfall. While we were eating dinner, kids had already started coming around to trick-or-treat so of course our kids would race to answer the door each time to check out the costumes other kids had on. Needless to say, they didn’t get much food in their tummies that night. We ended up passing out candies for a while then later ventured outdoors. Nicholas ran so fast from house to house and Wesley would run as fast as he could to keep up. Nicholas helped Wesley ring the doorbell when he couldn’t reach, and the boys were a dynamic duo at this trick-or-treat business. Occasionally, the kids forget to say trick-or-treat as they are greeted to a hypnotic bowl full of candies at eye level when the doors are opened, but they always followed up with a Thank You and a gleeful “Happy Halloween” from the Bat boy himself. Alex’s mom came along for the trick-or-treating and enjoyed the fun experience with the kids while his father stayed behind to man the ensuing waves of trick-or-treaters. After the kids got home, they each got to pick out a treat from their bag to enjoy before they brushed their teeth, and I promised I’d let them pick out one treat each night for the rest of this week if they continue to be good boys.

Kyle actually has a Batman outfit that I got from last year - long story from the stupid Party City return policy … I am glad Kyle kept his promise of being a knight since he had wanted to be Darth Fader for a long time …
