As one of the Corporate Fantasy of Lights sponsors, we were allowed this weekend to visit the Drive-Through Holiday Extravaganza, surrounding Vasona Lake in Los Gatos. The routes unfortunately were not planned out very well (mainly because of a breech in one of the intersections that allowed people to merge/cut-in to the line foregoing the almost one hour wait in line just to get to that point). But aside from that disappointing revelation (and having to put our kids through an hour of whining… are we there yet?), our spirits kicked up the moment we entered the “parade route”. All headlight were supposed to be out but as luck would have it… a large majority of people decided against that train of thought or just clearly didn’t comprehend the instructions so every now and then we’d get a blast of headlight shining straight through the windshield (which gave our eyeballs some rude awakening). The displays were kinda fun and the boys were definitely excited by the animated displays and the drive-through light tunnels as well. At the end of the route, we were given some candy canes for the kids so we let them enjoy that on the ride home. I’m glad we finally went to check this out, but if our company sponsors again next year we’ll probably try to visit on a weeknight instead.
