Disappearing Act

Wesley always had a knack for disappearing… and yesterday was no exception. I’ve never had to worry much about Nicholas wandering off somewhere without telling us because he’s always wanting to drag us where he wants to go. Wesley on the other hand is a whole ‘nother story. Whenever his interest is peaked, he starts running in stealth mode to put 110% focus on what has enticed him at that moment. I remind him time and time again to never go more than 3 steps away from my side when away from home (with some exceptions of course), but this little guy just has no fear at all sometimes.

Wesley is in backup care at CFC this week, and he gave his teachers a huge scare on Monday when he disappeared for an extended period of time from class. The teachers were in an all out panic (because obviously Wesley did not tell them that he was leaving the room). Turns out, he decided to join some of his friends for their JumpBunch class which he attended regularly before and left with those group of kids without the teacher ever knowing. And since the coaches recognized Wesley, they probably just thought he was back at CFC to attend JumpBunch again. I wonder if he will ever kick this habit of just going off on his own? It appears my reminders are short-lived in this little boy’s mind.
