CFC’s School’s Out Program

The theme of this week’s school out program is “the Ocean”. We dropped Nicholas off at CFC’s multi-purpose room after checking him in at the North Lobby Monday morning. We saw many familiar staff members and chatted to a few of those folks before meandering to the room. They set the room up so that it was sectioned off into seperate play and learn areas for the kids. This is the first time Nicholas has qualified to participate in this school aged program so that was kind of an exciting experience for us all. Over the course of the week, they participated in JumpBump (a sports activity class), water fun, an all-day field trip to the Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39, plus a host of other activities to entice the kids. They even have field trips to the local Aquatic Center on Fridays but it doesn’t really start until the week after. So as an alternative, they watched 2 movies instead, one of them being Happy Feet the other an educational one about sea creatures. They didn’t get to finish watching Happy Feet, so the staff promised the kids they’d finish it on Monday. Unfortunately for Nicholas, he will not be back again this summer, but I’m certainly glad he got to experience what typical kids do on summer breaks. Next week, it’s back to regular summer school for him.
