Car Talk (the kiddie version)

This morning as I was driving the kids to school, I heard this conversation from the back of the car….

N: Wesley, do you want to be a firefighter?

W: Yes.

N: Don’t be a firefighter Wesley because you can die in a fire.

W: Oh.

N: You can be an ambulance guy (EMT basically). They don’t get hurt, they just help people in the ambulance. Or you can be a police man (???), Or an astronaut, or a doctor?

G: So what do you want to be Nicholas?

N: I want to be an astronaut.

I thought it was funny that Nicholas would take into account the mortality factor in selecting a profession.

I guess Nicholas hasn’t watched the news to find out that astronauts sometimes die too. I am morbid I know.

Is Nicholas a realist then? With this kind of observation?

Oh - how cute! One day they’ll be able to read back about this and laugh! Sandra is right, it’s priceless. That’s why I love driving the kids around. You never know what they might talk about.

That’s priceless!! I love hearing kids’ conversations - absolutely cute!! Hmm … just the other day Emily said she wanted to go up to space and I told her only astronauts can do that and she did say she wanted to be one too! ;)
