Alphabet Crown

Wednesday night when we went to pick up Wesley, he had a big Alphabet crown adorning his head when greetng us at the door. This was the symbol of achievement for these youngsters when they have mastered the recognition of letters and sounds of the alphabet. His teacher told us that he had worn the crown for 2 hours already prior to our arrival and even asked earlier if he could wear it for outside play. This was a huge achievement by our standards in comparison to Nicholas who was closer to 5 years of age when he mastered this feat. I guess when this information is drilled into you at a younger age, it just sticks better. Nicholas still get confused every now and then between his b’s and d’s, p’s and q’s and the number 9 when he reads and writes even though he’s excelled tremendously in the past 3 months in Kindergarten.

I am impressed. You’re right Grace, the school does know how to teach the kid to read in such a short time.
