A good workout

Yesterday, the back left tire blew on our SUV enroute to pick up the kids. We were about a mile away from the campus when this happened so I took off running towards the school to catch them before the doors close while Alex stayed behind to wait for help. Actually, I was running mostly because I was a little scared of the neighborhood. I’m sure it’s fine, but I’ve been taught all my life to stay away from the bad parts of town and seriously… the area looked a bit shady to me, but I’d rather be running and going somewhere than be stuck in the car off the street like a sitting duck… Yes, I’m always paranoid about these things and was wishing I had my can of pepper spray with me in my purse. I didn’t mind the run at all, but it was the running in 2 1/2 inch heels that was the tough part. Now I know why people keep a pair of running shoes in the back of their car. Nevertheless, I made it to the school 5 minutes before the gates closed, and I ended up walking the kids over to the local shopping area and had dinner there while we waited for Alex to finish up. What an adventure it was to start out the week. Thank goodness this doesn’t happen too often.
