2009 Birthday Celebrations
This year, we did something a little different for the boys’ birthday celebration. On January 2nd (Wesley’s 6th birthday), we let the kids pick how they wanted to celebrate their special day. Nicholas had a dentist appointment on his birthday so we did both celebrations together on this day. I don’t think they minded though as long as they got to pick what they wanted to do.
Wesley chose to go to Chuck E. Cheese for his celebration so we went there first thing in the morning. He had such a great time because it was an activity he had asked for many times before. The place was somewhat crowded, but it was nice to see the kids enjoy themselves. He told us later that his favorite activity there was playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game along with Alex and Nicholas. After a quick meal, we were onto the next celebration.
For Nicholas’ birthday, he wanted to see the Disney movie “Bolt” so we hopped into the car and headed over to the nearby AMC where we caught the afternoon showing of Bolt in 3-D. Nicholas originally requested a snack of popcorn and soda for the movie, but since we arrived a little later than expected, the previews had already begun. I asked Nicholas if he still wanted the popcorn and he said no because he didn’t want to miss anything. He didn’t even want us to miss portions of the movie so he told us not to go buy any for him either. I think this is the first 3-D movie I had seen in a while… even the movie previews were in 3-D. Alex balked at the ticket prices for the matinee show. I looked online later and saw that they charge special premiums for 3-D events. It makes sense considering they do provide 3-D glasses for the audience, and it ain’t those cheap red/green versions either.
All-in-all, it was a fun time with the kids…. Happy 8th Birthday Nicholas! Happy 6th Birthday Wesley!
