1st Week of School
After coming back from Hawaii, it was hard for both the kids and the adults to adjust their body clocks. We all wanted to sleep in past 10am, but of course that is not possible when you have to go to school/work.
Alex actually made it to boot camp this week. He only overslept on one of the days and almost didn’t make it there on time. He is even planning to attend boot camp Labor Day morning, now that’s dedication! [Motivation: Alex dropped closed to 30 points on his Cholestrol test after just 5 weeks of boot camp training]
Nicholas has Mrs. Patel as his 1st Grade teacher this year. He also has computer class, art, music, and PE with various instructors so that’s something new for him. When I asked him what he liked most about being in first grade, his reply was “getting my own desk!”.
School Supplies - Starting 1st grade, there’s quite a bit of school supplies that is required for parents to purchase for class/art. It was actually kind of fun shopping for the supplies. We even got Wesley an extra composition book to doodle on since Wesley didn’t get to pick out school supplies like Nicholas, and the first thing he did after we got home was write his name on the cover.
For Nicholas, homework started the very next day of school. It wasn’t too bad though because he finished it all in his extended care class led by Mr. Jonathan. Too bad we won’t be able to enjoy this luxury for long. We’ll be resorting to doing homework on car rides home again once Nicholas’ after-school activities begin.
The biggest mixup we’ve had with this school is with their lunch catering program hosted by Nob Hill Catering. I’ve been in contact with them all throughout our vacation to make sure that Nicholas’ school info has change, etc. etc., and to my disappointment, things are still messed up so hopefully this will get squared away soon.
Wesley is now in room 17 just next door to his old room in the summertime. His teachers’ names are Miss Delores and Miss Swati. Miss Swati substituted in Wesley’s class during the summer so we’re glad he recognizes one teacher. Since she is still out on vacation however, Miss Anya is taking her place instead. I met her on Wesley’s first day of school and she seems very nice as well.
