Peter Pan (2003)

While Wesley was napping in the afternoon yesterday at home, Nicholas and I watched Peter Pan together to pass the time. Luckily the movie was not as frightful as I had imagined given its PG/MV-Mild Violence rating, but I did tell Nicholas to look away in a few scenes just in case. The mermaids I thought were pretty scary lookin’ and not very nice creatures as it turns out (wonder why this decision was made for the movie?). I also had to do a bit of explaining along the way because of the british accent and scenes which were probably a bit beyond the comprehension of a young child, but he quite enjoyed this film and liked the fact that I was there at his disposal for any clarifications he needed.

I usually like watching the end credits of films I enjoy and was surprised by the fact that this movie’s executive producer was Mohammed Al-Fayed and was made… In memory of the late Dodi Al-Fayed (who died along with Princess Diana in Paris, 1997). That was very touching indeeed and I conveyed to Nicholas a bit about the history of the producer and the connection between that and the film. I discovered later that Dodi Al-Fayed was the executive producer of Hook (the version made famous by Robin williams) and it all made sense.
