First Earthquake Experience
Nicholas and Wesley experienced their first earthquake tonight at 8:04pm. It was a 5.6 magnitude earthquake; its epicenter located 5 miles NE of Alum Rock, San Jose. It was definitely a shaky one considering we were all downstairs when we felt it start. Alex was in the kitchen, I was working in the formal dining […]
Swim Class (Fall ‘07, Week 4)
Today’s surprise? We bumped into Sandra/Emily in the lobby area waiting for Kyle to finish changing. Like Nicholas, Kyle seems to enjoy his sweet time changing after class in the locker room. Wesley usually acts as my errand boy in getting Nicholas to finish up faster but that doesn’t always work either.
Today’s events:
Nicholas gets comfortable […]
Cup Noodle
Nicholas says to us constantly… “can we have Cup Noodle for snack?”. Of course we always tell him that it’s for emergency backup food not for everyday, but that doesn’t usually stop him from asking. But whenever he asks, I’d correct him by saying… no it’s not Cup Noodle, It’s Cup O’Noodle -or- Cup […]
The Carl’s Birthday Party
I took the kids to Pump It Up for Laura’s 4th and Ostin’s 2nd birthday party today. Laura is a friend of Wesley’s from swim class last year, and even though they are no longer in the same class together, the bond is still there between these little friends. David, their other little buddy, also […]
Swim Class (Fall ‘07, Week 3)
We missed the 1st 2 weeks of swimming this fall session already for various reasons, so I was so excited to see both kids in class finally this week. Alex had to work but came along anyways since we carpooled to work today. Lucky for him, the facility had WiFi access so he was […]
Homework and Tests
I have been warned that certain private schools have a knack for putting both the parents and kids to work! And I am experiencing it for the first time this school year. Kindergarten for Nicholas wasn’t too bad only because there’s at most 2 pieces of homework paper a day along with some light […]
1st Week of School
After coming back from Hawaii, it was hard for both the kids and the adults to adjust their body clocks. We all wanted to sleep in past 10am, but of course that is not possible when you have to go to school/work.
Alex actually made it to boot camp this week. He only overslept on […]
Summer Swim Class (Week 4)
Monday
There were only 2 kids in Nicholas’ class today so he got lots of personal training from his teacher in this 30-minute session. He learned to swim on his side and on his back. His teacher also asked Nicholas to practice 6-arm strokes (comprised of 4-arm strokes, rotating onto his back, and onto his stomach again […]
Summer Swim Class (Week 2)
Nicholas and Wesley just finished week 2 of the session and I can already see progress in both. Wow, what a difference these twice a week lessons make. When I picked up Wesley from school today, he kept asking me when we are going to get to swim class because he loves swimming. […]
Summer Swim Class (Week 1)
The struggles and triumphs.
I enrolled the kids in a 4-week Monday/Wednesday swim class for the summer, and for this session Nicholas’ teacher is Mr. Tommy. Nicholas seems to be pretty flexible with teachers now so the change every session doesn’t seem to bother him much.
Wesley for this session has 2 teachers (Miss Chelsea and Miss […]
1st Day at New School
Yesterday, we dropped the kids off at their new school (the same one they will attend this fall), and the commute was FANTASTIC! The campus itself is not ideally situated due to it being in an industrial zone, but the joy and elation I feel from not having to spend so much time in the […]
CFC’s School’s Out Program
The theme of this week’s school out program is “the Ocean”. We dropped Nicholas off at CFC’s multi-purpose room after checking him in at the North Lobby Monday morning. We saw many familiar staff members and chatted to a few of those folks before meandering to the room. They set the room up so that […]
The Circus
Nicholas’ teacher asked all the students to write a composition beginning with….
One fine day, I went to the circus. I saw
elephants on stools, acrobats swinging from bar to bar, and horses running in circles. I ate popcorn and my brother ate hot dogs. My mother and my father both ate popcorn. […]
Swim Class III (Week 11)
Nicholas earned an Octopus Ribbon today after successfully completing ‘a glide, followed by a rollover onto his back while kicking, and then a roll back onto his stomach to finish up the move’. It was awesome cuz I got to see him do it on his own, twice.
Wesley did a great job too. For […]
TGA Golf
Nicholas has finished off 1 full year of Golf lessons at school already, and he just received his certificate for having passed Blue level. When I went to pick Nicholas up after his lesson, Coach Takako actually told me that Nicholas has improved tremendously in recent weeks (to my surprise) and recommended that we consider […]
