Good bye Puddy (Tat)!

Yesterday was a sad day for us all because Julia had to put our family cat to sleep. Puddy, our black-n-white colored Tuxedo cat, lived a long 19 years under our family’s care from the time Lisa got him at 1-year of age in Berkeley (where he kept her in good company while away from […]

Ski Trip Highlights

Nicholas’ 1st ski lesson - Nicholas tried his hand at skiing for the 1st time and seemed to enjoy the experience after watching from the sidelines last time. He said aside from the skiing, they had 2 snack breaks, a lunch meal of chicken burger and fries, and did lots of other stuff too like […]

Tooth Fairy Visits

The tooth fairy paid us a visit last night and left Nicholas a quarter and half-dollar next to his pillow.  Nicholas did not want to put the tooth under his pillow in fear that the tooth fairy will not be able to see it when she comes.

Nightime Potty Training

On Wesley’s 4th birthday, we decided to go cold turkey on him at nights (meaning no pullups). This was decided for 2 reasons: 1) Wesley’s nap time accidents at school increased in frequency to almost twice a week which I assumed to be the result of us using pull up at nights. And this […]

Finally Accepted

After almost a year of being wait-listed at the school for which we initially applied, Alex finally got a call yesterday from them informing us that both kids have been accepted for the Fall, 2007 school year. What does this mean for us? An easier daily commute between home, work, and school. Thank goodness! Though […]

Blending Badge

Yesterday, Wesley proudly came home with a giant red blending badge worn around his neck.  This badge is awarded when a child is able to blend beginning consonants with the endings:  an, iz, eb, ic, ub, etc.  The cutest thing is that even though Wesley has gotten pretty good with his phonics and such, he […]

New nephew

Alex’s sister gave birth to a baby boy this past Sunday, so now we have a nephew, finally. He came in at 6 lbs. 10 oz. and both mother and baby are doing well. Congratulations to the Kwong family!

Swim Class II (Week 7)

I missed watching both their classes this week because I was at their hectic front desk trying to secure a spot for the Spring session coming up. The cool thing is that Nicholas and Wesley’s class will start at the same time (finally!) so I get to watch them for the entire 30 minutes […]

“I Don’t Want to Hear About It!”

This is what I hear back from Alex usually when our conversations about work goes over the ~5 minute time limit each day. Amazingly, Alex never talks about his work (at least to me) and is willing to discuss anything under the sun, except work. So what’s my remedy? I talk my family’s […]

Weekend of Playing

I flew home to visit my parents for the weekend, and this time my sister came along on the trip as well. I would’ve loved to take one kid with me, but with the muggy weather and school, it just made more sense doing that in the summertime instead. Visiting my parents solo has become […]

Tips for Working Moms

By Kate Lorenz, CareerBuilder.com

As a working mom, you are pulled in many directions. You feel that everybody needs you — your kids, your spouse, your boss, your parents, your committee and your community. And normally, they all need you at the same time.
It’s difficult to make it all work, yet some people seem to do […]

Decluttering Your Life

I think this year is one of the best years to pick up watching Oprah (unless you are already a die-hard fan of course). This year she has vowed to inspire audiences around the world to “Live Your Best Life”, and the shows are definitely worth the watch. Yesterday’s show on decluttering your life […]

Swim Class II (Week 6)

Last week, Nicholas and Wesley missed their swim session since both kids were recovering from their cough and cold at home. This week, Mr. Adam told us that Nicholas did alright… wasn’t doing his big kicks like usual (probably because he skipped a week’s worth of practice), but is still working hard on his […]
